What do they think of candid photography?

Ok, just got me thinking of how all of us keep our candid shooting from others (or maybe not in some cases not). Do you tell your friends, families, lovers etc that you like to do candid photography? What are their impressions on this when you tell them? are they cool with it? If you havent told them, how would you feel if they found out?
Also what do you think the general impression of "us guys" is?

Thought it would be interesting to hear peoples different attitudes toward this, and the attitudes they hear themselves.

I've told small lies to my parents against me taking candid type pics aka of other girls at those sport events but they don't know the laws and think taking pics of random girls and 'e-mailing' them is illegal lol THe retarded news reporters always make us sound like guys that will end up being rapists and bs like that, candid photography etc keeps a lot more people away from being that way.

Well, I was arrested and had to miss work so I figured I owed it to my department manager and assistant manager to tell them why and they were cool with it, in fact they were amazed that a person could get into trouble for taking candids. And I didn't sugarcoat it, I had been showing one of them my posts at the other board for quite some time, and he had a teenage daughter himself. He just couldn't believe a person could get into trouble for taking pictures in public.

Now, as far as female acquaintances go, that's a different story because most females I have probed the subject with have some kind of irrational fear of ending up on the internet. I say this is irrational because they go out in publuic...people who see you in public are the same people who get on the internet. So the difference is only a matter of degree, more people will see you on the internet, but if there is a problem with people seeing you dressed a certain way the answer is simple, don't dress like that.

I did tell a couple of female friends what happened and their attitude, knowing me as they did, was that I didn't deserve what happened, that if a female was dressed provocatively she should expect to get attention. One even volunteered to be a character witness for me. The other caught me taking a pic of her ass once, and protested sufficiently but was very sweet to me the rest of the day...think she was flattered?

I think where women get the bad vibe is when it's someone they don't know is taking their picture, they just don't know how to take that because the women who know me aren't freaked, all they want is to not end up on the net.

Only three people know that I take candid pictures. One is a fellow candid shooter, one only knows of the pictures I take at clubs and post on candid sites. He doesn't have a problem with it. and the other friend of mine, the way she sees it is that she likes to also take candid shots of females but is against posting them on a website such as this. She said it's different if she she takes them to just keep for herself. After she told me that I just made the decision to not let anyone else know. I don't know what the reaction would be by my family but I would like to one day be able to show them some of the shots I got and have them be proud of them but before I can do that I'll have to get a better camera and work on my technique. Even after that, I still may not be comfortable enough to show anyone in my family because they won't see the pictures the same way I do.

My wife thinks I am a perv for doing this. She also thinks that this whole cO community is full of "pathetic losers" that can't get "any" and therefore, need to see women in pics for sexual kicks. Now, she's only seen my pics, which I believe may be considered more "pervy" so i only know her thoughts on my work, so please forgive her for not seeing the art in em. She really hates this hobby I've picked up but its helping us sooooo much with da bills that she's OKAY'ed it for the time being.

Her reasoning is...Why would any guy spend a day out taking pics and stalking girls? There has to be something wrong with them....its "creepy" she says.

She sometimes makes me feel bad...but then I think of it....AND I am off to the beach again. I know in the future i will put a stop to my candid career...its something I dont want to do for the rest of my life. As long as i am cool with it and my wife approves of it, I'll be here..

Anyone who has been in my presence is well aware of my practice.
To see me without a camera is a rare occurance.

I've kind of noticed that too. But you know, deep down, I think it's because women are concerned about their looks--they want to have a chance to fix up the hair, straighten the make-up, make sure their undies aren't showing.

Have you ever noticed the ones the really play up to the camera and turn "it" on for you are the ones that look really nice?

And to answer the question...not many people know I do this. I figure it's part of my private life, and the ones that know about it are a big part of my "private" life.

well one of my friend knows and he use to do it. his camera broke and is in the process of getting it fixed. it's my personal hobby and i dont think anybody needs to know exactly unless i want to tell them.
