So yeah I'm how you say..."Converting" from a windows PC to a Mac......and I NEED some serious advice from all you Mac users PLEASE!!!!!

I'm looking to get a macbook and a 20" external display monior ($699)

but I want to know how good these Macbooks are???? I just need something for photo/Video editing and gaming....

any advice on which Macbook to get????

and whats the deal on the "heating up" thing???? I heard alot that these things get HOTTT!!!

I've never used Macs, I'd be interested to know what is motivating you to switch?

hmm this is certainly interesting. why are you "converting" to macs? i am a pc guy myself and was never a big fan of them.

as for the video/photo editing, macs has Imovie which i think comes with the computer. never used it myself but ive seen people do good things with it. if you want to get real fancy, mac has Final Cut Pro. photoshop is just bout the same on pc and macs

whats motivating me??? well hhhmm.....I have seen all the cool programs Mac has such as final cut pro, apeture, and etc. and loved the results and scripting of these porgrams! fast, reliable, and easy to work with.......Now I have in the past disliked macs.....ALOT! but I guess it was because I was a hardcore PC guy...and now I think about it....I guess it was just a "PEPSI OR COKE" type concept I had.......but my windows keeps giving me problems and my fiiends mac never gave him crap! so I'm gonna try it out.......maybe its just because Im too comfortable with windows that I never liked mac or what........but they seem pretty cool with thier design and features!

I'll tell you...Mac has a very interesting advertising program right now--it's very effective in getting the point across that you don't have to worry about viruses, spyware, etc. It's even got me thinking about it.

Doesn't Bearcat use a Mac?

I use a Mac and I love it. I don't have the new Macbook though, I'm using a Powerbook. If you are really into gaming I'd stick with a PC but with Boot Camp you might be able to play PC games on the Mac but I'm not sure. As far as the heat issue I know my laptop gets hot but not to the point where it will damage the computer. The cooling system on the Macs are pretty good. I think the OS on the Mac is way better than on the PC and with Leopard coming out early next year it will be even better. As of now there are only a few viruses if that that exist for the Mac.

Macs are really good for design such as video editing. Bearcat also uses a Mac and so does Sandman.

leopard? somebody over there liks using animals for themes. thats kindda better than Vista and XP.. does anyone know what xp stands for?

I use mac and windows; I use what I need.

The advantage of the mac is that you can still run windows. You can't run apple programs on a windows pc.

Overheating issues? I don't know. BUT I will say this, I never buy the first version of an Apple product, they always have a flaw. Really.

That being said, I love the iBook. It's 'cheap' and it works well.

Oh yeah, always renew your apple care contract. If you don't you might regret it.
