newbie camera question

hiya people...im about to start off into the world of candid photography , and was wondering if the new PowerShot S3 IS would take shots like this one? http://www.candidography.com/forums/...id=45541&stc=1 i like a good large,crisp, hi res photograph espeicially for candids,and what other eqiptment would help .....thanks lee uk

Probably not.... you would need a dSLR.

But you can still get good shots with that camera.

the cam that was used to take that shot is on a different level from the S3 IS. you would be able to get some good shots out of the S3 though

one way to get a shot like that would be
a canon EOS 350D for around $600
and an EF 85mm f1.8 lens for $330

which is almost double your budget for the S3
but well worth it if youre serious about your photography
nikon has a similar body and lens in this class if you fancy going that route

also a newbie...always have sniped with the cam but tired of the 640 pics. Purchased the Sony H1. Bought the tele-photo lens, but it do to well at the arena football game. So I exchanged it for the S2. Didn't seem to blur as much...but the price dropped from 399 to 330 in 30 days, so not sure to wait on the S3 or get the S2 for less...

if i was you, I'd get the S2 for less... from what i read bout the S3, it's not a big difference from the S2

thank you...looks like I have some reading to do in this teach'n learn section.

Sandman is a god when it comes to the indoor mall stuff...makes my Treo hip shooting at WalMart look pathetic...I thought I was good?

Well...back to the lessons.
