New camera question

Hey guys,

I've got a serious question, and I could not think of a better group of people to ask.

I'm getting ready to upgrade cameras (my old one is an old 4 mp olympus) to a DSLR. After much review, I think I have decided upon the new Sony A-100k. My only hesitation is that the reviews fault the noise at ISO 800 and above.

I'm going to primarily be using the camera to shoot fire scenes, and with the lack of lights and inherent darkness of the rooms, I am concerned about the appearance of noise and sandy-looking pictures, even with the external flash.

Based on my needs, do you think I am heading down the right road or am I totally out in left field? Also, besides best buy or circuit city, does anyone recommend any of the internet camera stores?

Thanks in advance for any advice, hopefully once I get the camera I can make some useful contributions!

The thing with that camera is it's new...not a lot of people are using it yet although from what I've seen, it would be a great choice.

If you're using flash, your probably not going to need to go above 400 ISO anyway...if I were you, I'd take a card to best buy or circuit city, and take a few shots at different ISOs and see if it meets your expectations.

A lot of people choose B and H for their photo needs. You can google the URL.

b&h and canogacamera are the only stores I use and never had a problem.
as for the camera you are doing right thing by reading the reviews,
shooting interiors will require a flash, so as arch said, you won't be going
above 400 ISO.
