First of all, THANKS to all of you have posted pics. I am very impressed with the quality of posts, as well as the friendliness of this board (I have only been a member for a few weeks). I would like to ask my fellow memers for their thoughts on which of the following cameras as a "first" camera. (This will be my first SLR camera.) My budget dictates that I choose one of the following: 1> Cannon Rebel K2. 2> Minolta Maxxum 5 3> Minolta Maxxum 50.
All these camera will come with a 28 - 80mm zoom lens. Any input from some of you "seasoned" photograpers will be greatly appreciated. Pop-Pop |

Cameras are like girls, clothing and cars.
You have to try them out for your self...feel them caress them, see how they respond to you..do they feel " right" in your hands?, try them on to see if they fit right and take em for a test drive. everyone has their own preferences and will base their opinions on that. there are of course photogs that have tried them all and perhaps even owned them all at one point, and they could p[oint out the pros and cons of your selection. btw...welcome to CO |

My recommendation would be to limit yourself to either the Nikon or Canon systems.
Look at Nikon D50 and D70s or Canon 350D/XT or 20D. For a detailed look at these, check out the forums at www.dpreview.com for answers to the many questions you undoubtedly have. |

Don't let money dictate anything. Get the camera you want.
Save a little longer. Used may not be a bad option as well. NIKON for sure. |

Hi Delirious,
Thanks for the help. I think I have decided not to decide just yet. Waiting another month or so will give me many more options. |
