Candid Horror Story - Stopped By Police!

Ok i went out shooting down the park, and i see this cop approaching and he pulls me over and asks to see whats on my camera because someone reported to the police i was taking photos of kids omg: omg:

Panicing, i show him a photo of a bird and not the photos of the girls butts and boobs! Because some of the photos had kids on (in the background). Then i realise i am being a fool so i show him the photos of the women and say they are candid photos (i usually go into town and take them etc). So he takes my details and calls in asking if i committed an offense (apparently i have!!). He said its an offense to take photos of people without permission, at this time i am shitting my pants (and knew i could have handled it better, but i am not great in dealing with situations like this ). But they said there isnt a chance of prosecution as the women are 20-30 and they arent indecent (just photos of bums and breasts).

Damn it was awful, loads of people looking at me when the police calls in my details and stands there making me show my photos after it had finished, he said i had to delete the photos so i deleted them all.



I didnt think taking candid photos was an offense? omg: well i guess it is, its worrying me now because if i get caught somewhere else (ill be in big trouble). which makes me really scared to go out shooting again (if its considered an offense).

My mum now thinks its really strange what i was doing and wierd omg: and i think this goes on my record

i guess thats my candid career over

The trouble is man, if police think its against the law (there is nothing you can do lol!). They rang in to check if it was an offense and the officer says it was. I have to check if this goes on my record! The offence was "taking photos of people without permission"

The problem was i was shooting in a family environment, had i been shooting in the streets i dont think this would have happened. But someone thought i was taking photos of kids, and then thats a terrible start!

If anyone knows the law though for ENGLAND please let me know (i was given one of those white forms, and i am wondering if it does go on my record).

ohh...England. Thought u were in the US. Well in any case, I doubt this would go in your record cuz appearantly u were not arrested and booked. Had they arrested you, taken you to jain, finger printed you and booked you...this would've gone on your record. But even then...u would've had the opportunity to defend yourself in court.

I can imagine this was an unfortunate and embarrassing situation for ya..I feel ya! Take a time out..maybe 2-3 weeks to react to it and make your decision then. I know right now you are scared and paranoid about the whole situation but let me tell you from personal experience....this will pass.

Asked a friend who knows about it, and he said it doesnt go on my record because it was only a stop and search form and no arrest. Only thing is, they will still keep this so if i was to go out shooting and get caught again (then i guess this first stop would have an effect).

My parents are ok about it now and they called me "paedo pete" and made some jokes about me so wasnt so embarassing as i thought it would be.

I do think shooting in England is a crime to be honest. I forgot where I read it, but I believe some people that are from there stated this was a new law (with in two years) and it doesnt bother them, they'll still shoot.

Here in the US, they can ask for your info, they can ask to see your cam, but with out proper search and seizure warrants, you don't have to answer one damn question.

Good luck with this, I don't know what your rights are. Do some research, go to a law library or consult an attorney
