My 50mm lens died and I bought a new lens

When I was in Barcelona, my 50mm 1.8 lens died on me. The inner part just popped out while focussing and fell on the ground. Unrepairable.
It was the cheapest of the cheapest lens but still.......
I decided to treat myself to a new lens and I bought a 17-40mm f4.0 L lens. Over there they are cheaper than in Ireland.
I mainly bought it for landscape photography but it also works for candids, especially in crowded places where you're very close to your subjects. It is also a good lens for full body shots.
My next 50mm lens will probably be an f1.4 model.
I shot some candids with the 17-40mm lens in Barcelona that I will show in a while.
My camera bag (lowe pro rucksack) is getting heavier and heavier

There's nothing like that aweful sound of equipment hitting the floor when you know you're still holding on to it!! But it sounds like a good opportunity for an upgrade..

I thought there were only 1.2 and 1.8 versions of the 85mm Canon?

Hah, hah. I meant focussing. I was a little tired when I wrote that post. So not completely there.

Bummer, Dopa. But you got a great replacement lens. And I got the chance to shoot last week with the 50 F/1.4--what a great low light lens that is!

That's the 50mm lens I want to buy as well.
