If there was a selling section...

Do you think it'd be utilized here? In the past, we've always had a no selling stance. cO is not responsible for broken blah blah blah. But over the past few weeks, I've noticed a few people selling things and it's making me wonder if more people have things to sell, but don't do it here cause we don't allow it?

Let me know if you think this would be a good section.

I'm also thinking it would be a good thing cause most people live in this community and fear getting ripped off. If a seller is selling here, you're less likely to get ripped off cause this person's rep is on the line, vs ebay where people get accounts hacked and all that good stuff.

Seriously though I think it would be a good idea, simple and straight to the point. Once someone posts something for sale though the seller has to keep the thread updated. Most likely everyone will be PM-ing the seller about the item(s) and strike a deal. If someone catches the thread late they won't know what the status is.

My opinion.

I think it's a good idea.
When I was selling my big white lens late last year I offered it here first just 'cause I thought someone in this community would benefit from it.
I was asking a good price and hoped someone here could use it.
I ended up selling it on ebay, tho.

Having utilized a very popular and one of the top "tech" forums on the Net...their For Sale section required that you not use email addresses such as hotmail, gmail, etc. It had to be your ISP email address. Also, you couldn't sell other people's stuff, only your own. NO links to outside listing resources, such as eBay or any other site or forum. These "no exception" rules really made the "trust" aspect and reputation of whatever was sold there, higher and more reliable. Just some thoughts but I think it would be a good idea but ONLY if it was closely monitored and strict rules were made and met with no exceptions.

And not only should it be heavily moderated but "Member Policing" should be done, as well...like the rest of cO should be; ie, watch out for cO's and our own memberships' best interest, etc.
