Just wondering if any of you guys have used either of these CF cards ? I have 3 Delkin cards, 2gb, 2gb and a 1gb. However, now that I have my D2X I find that my cards fill up fast. I want to try a new brand and it seems those two are the most popular. Any thoughts from you guys.......

i just got regular two 2gb sandisk (not ultra) with my rebel and they work great with that camera. but i to am finding i will need more memory, and soon!! since those work fine, i will probably stick with it since it is cheaper than the ultra and the lexar pro.

with my old cam, the ultras did work better than the regular sandisks, but that was because the write speed of the camera was pretty bad, and the ultras sped that up a little. haven't run into that problem with the xt. the buffer is much larger.....

Here is the write speed for the different cf's on the d2x :D

I just bought a 2gb lexar purely for the fact that they are meant to last longer than say the sandisk ultra (although, extreme sandisks are meant to last long as well!). The speeds arent really that different, but you will find a difference in write speed of a 1 gig say compared to 2gig.

I got it as part of a package deal on Ebay along with my 20D. I recently to 500
photos on a trip to London and the counter on the camera said I could still take
999 more photos. I guess bigger is better. I never thought I would ever say that!!!! omg:

I think at this point you have enough cards and should consider a 20GB portable hard drive to offload the cards while youre shooting one of the others.

Anyone have any recommendations on a good portable harddrive to use for
off-loading photos form a CF card...Preferably one with a LCD screen to
view the photos downloaded to the harddrive? I recently saw the Epson
p-2000 Photoview in a photog magazine that I get...any other good ones
out there? Thanks :)

I think the epson does MP3 too. Take a look at what they are saying about the different solutions at dpreview in the storage forum. I think you can get a low end solution for the price of a 4GB card and for a couple of hundred more you get the portable media player type setups.

Microdrives are dangerous. Let them fall down to the floor while changing
the cards! You'll love the CF cards immediately, AFTER!
Even more, when you've lost 6Gb of pics at this point!
MD are really sensitive but cheap.

I agree with you Deliriouspixel!

I've no recommendation only a few hints:
I'm using since three years a JOBO GIGASTOXX with a 20GB harddrive.
Before i had a NIXVUE Vista with the 10Gb hardive. You know, beside the hardrives,
what's the biggest difference between?
The battery pack!!!!!
On the Nixvue i had an INTERNAL battery pack with the power to copy about
5GB of pics! Ridiculous!! On my GIGASTOXX i have an EXTERNAL battery pack that allows me to copy about 10Gb of pics! Even MORE ridiculous!
What i want to say is:
You don't need a LCD screen to view the pics you can do that at home and even
better. It drys out your battery for nothing! It's enough, that you've a small
screen, that you can check after if the pics are stored correctly on the harddrive.

Don't forget the time that you need to download the pics.
I don't know how much time the new storages need to do that.
My ol' GIGASTOXX needs 15-20 minutes for a 1GB CF card.
While the transfer to the hardrive i have to sit down. The hardrive is too sensitive
against shaking or hits. I've lost MANY pics because of that!
Because of the time thing, i've never tried to download my bigger cards. Only the small ones.

If you check the solutions, look out for:
- How much time the storage needs to copy 1GB.
- How many GB can you download with ONE battery pack.
- How sensitive is the installed hardrive during the transfer.
- How BIG is the storage. What's his size?
- Do you want to pay a lot more money only because of a big LCD? You don't need that, imo!

This is now my 5th ¨candid season¨ that i am using those portable storages.
They are cool and cheaper than the same amount of GB in CF cards!

I'm doing it with:
1x128Gb CF card (no name) = works really slow
2x512Gb CF Apacer Photo Steno Pro = sometimes a pic is corrupted on them
1x1Gb IBM Microdrive = i use it always as first card. Scared that something breaks in it.
2x4Gb Sandisk UltraII CF= they ARE ultra! Cool thing: they have a lifetime warranty!
20Gb JOBO GigaStoxx portable storage= old but works!
