So far, I recognize just about every name in here from one place or another, so I presume that most of you will recognize me as well.
A quick intro: I've been involved in this hobby for about 3 years now. It all started when I got my first 35mm SLR and decided to take my love of girl-watching to a new level - those fleeting images would become set in perpetuity with the help of my newly discovered 100-300mm zoom lens! After taking a year off, I got my first digital compact in the Spring of 2003 and that's when the learning really began. I still have the same camera, but lately it's shown signs of aging. I hope to be using some new equipment by the Spring of NEXT year!
I'd like to thank archman for sponsoring me - if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't even know this board existed! And you've been a real source of encouragement to me in recent days!
And props to JoeMac - friend, mentor and all-around supporter since the very beginning of my "career"! If it wasn't for YOU, I don't know WHERE I'd be now! It's difficult to express, in a few sentences, how important your influence on me has been, I'll simply say that your photos AND your encouragement are without equal!
And shouts go out to some of the other friends and influential peeps I see here:
Paris Boy - I'm sure that it won't be long before EVERYONE here knows your name! In a way, I envy your youth and your talent, but your attitude and sincere humility make me rise above all that crap and allow me to appreciate what you have to offer.
The Nightshade - I've known you and followed your work almost as long as I have JoeMac's! Your work and your feedback has been a real inspiration to me, and I owe you a debt of gratitude! And whether you know it or not, you and Paris Boy are constant reminders to me that I really SHOULD go out and buy a DSLR (when I finally have the money)!
Snapst*r - You're another one who inspires and amazes me with your work! Your taste in females is without equal, and your honest feedback is always a welcome reality check! I may not always agree with you, but I'm glad you're there to goad me along!
SnappinT - I haven't known you very long, and I haven't had the privilege to see much of your work, but I have to say I've missed your sense of humor at that other place!
I hate to group the rest of you together, but I basically only know you guys from TCB, which I was introduced to this past summer. But I must say that the names I see - Private Eye, deliriouspixel, Gonja, Mort, pegman, Naughty Nokia, LCSC, Candid Bandit - conjure thoughts of respect and admiration for your work! Though you present various styles and subject matter, you are all influential in your own way! I hope to get to know you all better through the experience of this new board . . .
I hope I didn't forget anyone, and if so I apologize - I'll be sure and make it up to you by commenting on your posts . . .
I may have been a little verbose with this message, but it was well worth it to ME! LOL!
