Ratio of posters to lurkers?

Ok, I know the term lurkers has a somewhat negative connotation, but you get the idea. I was just wondering if the Boss or any of the Mods have any stats on the percentage ratio of those who post pics (start threads maybe?) and those who lurk.

Are people considered lurkers if they view, but don't comment, or view but don't post, or a little of both. What if someone doesn't have a digital camera, so they don't take photographs at all, but they view here and post comments, are they lurkers? Just wondering. Is anybody other than me confused yet?

i believe the ratio is VERY high on lurkers..
my guess would be 75% lurk and 25% post comments or pics
might even be higher than 75%

I would say the ratio of lurkers to posters is very large. There are over three thousand members here and probably a hundred post pics or comments. Even if it's 300 that have posted it's still not even ten percent. So, I would say it's five percent at best.

My definition of a lurker is someone who doesn't post anything -- pics or comments. Someone who posts comments but doesn't have pictures to share is still a contributor, as far as I'm concerned.

I post when I can... I haven't had any pictures to post lately... and can't always post comments (surf at work)... so sometimes I just lurk.

on a busy day, it's about 300 posts average.

300/3k is about 10% active with an impressive 90% lurking

I am new here...love the site...I always try to leave comments when viewing pictures that i enjoy. I hope soon to be able to post some pics of my own once the weather warms up here and I can get out to shoot some pics. I hope not to be counted in the lurker category...this site is awesome! I don't know why people can't post a reply to show respect and appreciation for someones hard work...even if you don't take pics...you can still reply and support those that do!

After reading many of The Boss' rants at the other place, I've trained myself to post what I want to post. If I get comments, great! If I don't get the number of comments I expected, oh well.

BTW, StuffNJunk...I wouldn't consider you a lurker.
