hey lol I hope you all dont mind my numerous questions....I'm just new to Mac and high-end software for photos.....so here is my question.

Is Paint shop pro a sufficient substitute for adobe? Im asking because Im on a budget and dont have $350 for APS and PSP is only $95! so has anybody used PSP? I know APS would be the BEST! and beats PSP by far but will PSP get the job done???

Thanks!

If you are not doing image processing for your profession, PSP will do anything you want and more.

I don't know much about paint shop pro. But if you like PS, why not try Photoshop Elements? I think the price will agree with you too.

Photoshop is not comparable with Paint Shop Pro.. Photoshop is more feature rich.
you don't need it if you are not an graffic enthusiast.

They both suck at different things, and the both rule at different things. Needless to say, I use both. I've got PainstShop pro 9, but I believe the newest version has a couple of the same nice features as PhotoShop (exposure, for example).

Im a beginner tho :p

Then there's the new ACDSee Photo Editor, for $69.99. Even that one can handle masks (layers). Well... image editors in that class are numerous. Just take a pick. But remember that the price tag might mean something.

Adobe Elements 3.0
But so many of my friends are using Photoshop that I don't feel complete without it. :( So I think I'll pick it up this winter sometime. I'd like to get the hang of Camera Raw so I can efficeintly handle RAW files too.

Paintshop (at least PS pro 8 and 9) sucks at resizing, but rules in cropping conveniency and saturation enhancement, for instance. It rules in general from an ergonomical point of view.

And whats up with the edgy picture when you view it in Photoshop. That just plain sucks.
