Because during Prohibition, when it was known as hemp, its use as an alternate
means to getting wasted threatened the illicit alcohol industry who's powerful
Washington lobby then orchestrated its illegality.

Let me be more specific. Why is it still illegal?

One would think if this is a democratic Nation that we could en-mass decide that it's not illegal at any time.
The fact that we can't is almost proof that this is not a democratic nation, but one controlled by business and religious interests.

We used to have in this country a dedicated group of good hearted
souls known as peace officers. Now thanks to the union of the legislative
branch of government and corporate interest we have a highly resented,
immoral, and corrupt group known as LAW enforcement.
Smoking weed is a religious ritual for many earthlings.

Is there anything practical currently preventing you from using THC? You can grow what you need in your closet. No need to bitch and moan about its illegality unless youre thinking of profitting from its industry, be it dealer or marijuana evangelist.
Smoke in peace brutha. No need to take kiddies lunch monies or spread the word.

A few years ago in Washington D.C. a majority of citizens voted to allow residents to use pot but the feds jumped in and said, "No!" There's your democracy.
It's funny to hear both sides of the political fence cry for less government unless it's something they don't like, then it's time to call in the man.......

I believe people should be able to do anything they want as long as they're not causing anyone else physical harm. But to tell the truth, fighting for marijuana reform is a hideous waste of energy when you have so many people in America living in poverty without a living wage or health insurance. Legal or not, weed will always be around.

Let me be more specific. Why is it still illegal?
Because the dumbasses in Congress haven't figured out they can make a shitload of money on the stuff. But if it were legalized, would it still hold the same kind of appeal for you guys that smoke it? The way to get people to do something is to tell them NOT to do it.

You fucking pussy. There are three types of people... Dicks, Pussies and Assholes.
You know the rest.
I have seen too many wrongfully victimized.
The system that eats itself's got us livin in a ghost town.
When people feel threatened they tend to perform desperate acts.
Yea I suppose the unjust law prohibiting Hemp could be enforced
a bit more vigorously, but I find this no cause for celebration.
Laws should be more easily removed. New ones shure are able to
flurish. Right the wrong....don't write more wrongs.

Decriminalization is the only way to go with pot. The last thing you want is the government controlling it.
Don't tell anyone this, but back in my stoner days I grew some super weed indoors. ;) I don't think the feds would allow that if it were legalized because they wouldn't get any money (taxes) from the users/growers.

Seems you need to ammend your peepletype list. Add #4 Victims.
Oh wait... That dont quite fit into your superset.
Victims are a subset within both Pussies and Assholes. Id draw you a set diagram but
my templates got locked away with the scissors and other sharp stuff when my keeper
left to do unknown things away from me. Nevertheless, you might imagine how both
pussies and assholes are easily victimized by dicks. Being a pussy myself, I can almost
understand how it must feel, cept for the part about being driven hard the wrong way
up the one way street and what that must do to all the shit backed up in there.
I say better to purr when pleased rather than fart.

if you don't mind.
I feel there are many benifits ganja has to offer and very few
dangers. This seems like a great way for people to maintain a happy
life without the harmful and often deadly side effects of typical
prescription meds.
Shouldn't something have to be proven a detriment long before it is
outlawed. Numerous families have been destroyed by marijuana, not
from it directly but by the laws prohibiting it. Law enforcement is being
encouraged to steal private property by the unjust forfeiture laws.
I cannot see how a bunch of fudge packin, carpet munchin sexual
deviants ( no offense ) are able to demand and recieve the right
to practice their personal desires but all the pot smokers in America
are still at risk of being arrested and having their property seized.
I mean not to attack G's and L's, quite the contrary. They number
much fewer than smokers and have had tremendous success in
the effort to become assimilated by society.
STOP ARRESTING POT SMOKERS.

The only thing is to move!
Then you can sit in a Coffee Shop and order with your drinks whatever you want to smoke
..................................and, it's legal! Where?
The Netherlands......in good ol' Europe!
Funny in all the years i have been smoking, i never had a problem with it. legal or otherwise....
I just " do " it....
I wont however ask the cop next to me if he wants a toke.....
I also for some strange reason like the illegality of it....it makes the whole experience seem sorta..." bad"..like me...I'm " bad".

It's illegal because every generation of Americans loves having a boogeyman to fear, everything from communism, terrorism, and drug abuse....and now cameras have joined the mix. The problem is, once something has become a boogeyman it takes an act of God to remove the stigma that was placed upon it.

If you are caught driving under the influence
of alchohol you will no doubt be subjected
to a probationary period during which radom tests
will be performed to detect marijuana not alchohol.
Brilliant.

You cannot patent a naturally occurring substance.
Cornering the market would be impossible so it must remain outlawed.
I can't blame the police.... they're just doing their job..? ....like nazis burning jews?
If I follow the dictation of the day and not my eternal SELF,
I have capitulated to the DEVIL and am in HELL.
Wrong and Right look nothing alike.

Can you believe that in Holland it isn't illegal and it is not a social problem at all??? In fact.. I could get myself some right now... totally legal! Do I feel like it? No.. thank you, did it (a lot!) but it is not that special. Maybe because it is an open market here you just take it for granted and loose interest. Same with prostitutes.. totally legal but do I need it? No! Once you ban things, men find it interesting but when it is there, it is not anymore.

Amen, Brother....that is a totally sane reasoning that some people just cannot grasp. There is nothing so enticing as forbidden fruit.

So I should thank the legislators for
defining me as an outlaw and adding interest to my life?
You observation is legit but has no bearing on the
illegal status of cannabis.

or does it?
If law enforcement wants to maintain the choke hold (maijuana laws) it has
on society it would behoove them to keep it as attractive as possible.
The more people who smoke it the more access the bad man will have
to interfere and profit from the lives of the common man.
