hi all,
please excuse the amateur question, befitting of my expertise.
i see people mention EXIF info, giving them the cam settings used.
how do you get such info ?? i thought it might have been stored in picture properties, cant see it.also did a search on the board and no joy.
many thanks for any responses.

If the picture is stored at your HD just right-click the image and choose properties, next click the second tab. Or if youre using PaintSHop click *image* - *image information*. Im pretty sure PhotoShop has a simular option.

You may also need to switch to the Advanced menus. I know I do on XP.

what he said, click on "summary" and if you don't see anything click "advanced"

Know that some photos won't give you all the info you are looking for

width
height
F-number
ISO
Flash or no flash
shutter speed
camera model
and more...

some people like to save their photographs as "save for web"
and that strips the photos of some info.
you'll probably see:

Width
Height
Horizontal resolution
vertical resolution
Bit depth
frame count

there are programs that you can use to click on any photo and view the exif
without having to download the picture.

On IE I use View Exif 1.9, it won't work on new versions of Firefox, but works
with IE.

thanks for the replies,i'm using xp pro but yet when i click on properties for the pictures none of the info mentioned comes up except file size, created etc.
when i connect my camera to the pc,an explorer window pops up to transfer the pics,i dont actually use any program to get them onto pc.
ahhh just read the last post again about firefox/IE,i religiously use firefox so wonder if thats it.

And never cut shots but crop them - or those exifs get lost.

i have cs2 aswell but dont use it so much for messing about with my pics

When converting images for web display, there's an option that will remove that info from the photo so be aware when you do this. If you have the originals, photoshop cs2 will give you this info as well.
