View Full Version : EOS-1Ds Mark II
Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II has a full size 35 mm (36 x 24 mm)
sensor which means it introduces no field-of-view crop...
and is 16.7 Million Mega pixels.. this camera is $8000.00 US... lol
I have been doing some research and found some sample photos...
I wanted to see for my self what all the hype was about ...
Well i will let these down sampled photos speek for them selfs
Is it worth 8000.00...? only if you are a pro and have that kind of money

that's the mother of all digital cameras :shade: Talk about a hard drive and memory hog though! You'd need a 4 gb card minimum!
OOOOOOOboy, this just in....
MAJOR BUG WITH THE 1Ds MARK 2... jezz
this is just unexceptable canon..
I just found a thread that people are experiencing
loss of frames in the buffer when writing to cf cards!!!!!
Canon cant get it right even with a $8000.00 camera
this is sad so sad... Canon sucks
We have pro's in he field reporting that 2gig or larger memory
card are locking up the memory buffer on the camera and
losing all images that are held in memory at the time of burst mode...
can you imagian being a pro at a wedding and losing say 40 frames
that have the morst important shots on them and they are gone forever...
Well thats is what is happening to many people right now with the 1Ds mark 2.
Here are some of the threads on other boards that the pro's are talking about...

Embarrassing.
They should do a recall before the cruise control relay catches fire and burns somebody's house down.

I have never had an issue with my 1DMKII. I just took it in to Canon a couple weeks ago to get tuned up, they even gave me free CPS service for the type of work I do outside of the candid realm. They adjusted my lenses and body and they are now producing some TACK SHARP in focus pics. Turn around time was less than a working week, 4 days actually. I even get spot on focus with my 100-400L wide open at minimum focusing distance, which has no DOF at all, very impressive. I personally shoot with 1GB cards, backed up with a digital wallet when they fill up. I am much happier with Canon gear than with my old Nikon by far.

Canon image quality speaks to me more so then nikon, therefore, I'll go with canon. If nikon releases something thats better then canon, I'll move to nikon.
For non dslrs I think Nikon owns the market

It's a crazy cam, no doubt!
I've tried it at the last Photokina and it's amazing!
