Dopa’s Photoshop CS tips.

I’m not an expert on Photoshop but I have learned a trick or two and would like to pass on my knowledge. I will be updating this thread every now and again.

I am trying to use batch processing but with images that CS has never seen before it always prompts me to Save As and needs to be entered manually. What & where am I talking about? File - Automate - Batch and then from that point just run an action. After the first time you save a file in photoshop it will no longer need to ask you how to save but the first time around it always does.

The question is.....how can I make it auto save (at maximum) and not need a prompt??? Even with the Save command inside the action it will still ask you for a Save As instructions.
Does anyone know? Been using Photoshop since 3.0 and still dont know. :thumbdn:

Snapshotz ...does THIS help you at all?

Save time when saving

Don’t need the Save Options dialog that appears when you choose Save in the Camera Raw dialog (for example, you don’t need to batch rename or choose a different file format)? You can totally bypass that dialog by holding the ALT key before clicking on the Save button.

there is a small box left to the actionstep, which indicates if the step is prompted or not.

I'm not sure about what you're trying to do but I guess that you want to apply an action to a number of photos. You will have to use the action on one photo first, and safe it under an F button. So: open a photo, choose action from the action palette - new action - name the action - from the function key pop-up menu choose the F button that you want to use for this action. Click record and convert your photo. After you're done, click the stop button in the actions palette. That's it. Now you choose automate - batch. Choose your action and then your source. Click the choose button and you will see a dialog. Pick out your folder and choose again. I think you can take it from there. You can then choose the same folder to put them in or a different folder and you can even rename them.

Is this what you mean?

For raw conversion, I don't use photoshop. I use pixmantec Raw shooter essentials. The 2006 version is available now. And the good thing is: it's free.

Not exactly.... The actions and macros are easy but getting it to not ask for a prompt is the tough part. Even when applying the save as part of the action it prompts you for jpeg options the first time that PS has seen the photo. I am just trying to eliminate the need to continously hit the Enter key.

bigmax and Stuff, unfortunetely neither of those work either. BM, even with the Dialogue box clicked it will still ask for it.

I know I am confusing most of you. Let me record a flash ani of what i am talking about so you can all see. Give me a day.
