I`m using 8.0 ... and I think it`s ok.
I've tried a lot of versions - my choice is 5.0.

Well, just make sure all the features you need work to your satisfaction first. I've been using 5.0 for ages and earlier this year I wanted to upgrade to 7.0 because I wanted a viewer for the Nikon NEF (RAW) formats.
Turns out it totally sucked for that, it only displayed them 1/4 size and the levels were all blasted, the pics looked like trash. If they ever fix that I might upgrade, 5.0 is prone to crashing a lot. :(
i heard that v.7 crashes too...i believe they resolved that problem..
my v.4.1 crashes a lot too, especially when im on a marathon sorting mission...lol
the v.8 hasnt crashed on me yet....
and to formulated one...i live at www.dpreview.com (http://www.dpreview.com) and thats where i stay on top of new things and read about acdsee
I will say this: 5.o works perfectly for me except for one thing: when I move
from one hard-drive to another, it just stops. It is not there anymore.
I thought this might just be my problem. Probably not.
Does every version have the same kind of problems, I wonder.

Hmm ... before I use the 8.0 ... I have used all other versions before.
The only prob I have to all versions ... also 8 I know since yesterday ... is, that the prog crashed, when I`ll make a new folder?!

Just for pic viewing I found 2.4 to be the most efficient...tried some newer ones but they seemed slow and sluggish displaying the picsto me so went bak to good ole 2.4

Stupid question: Irfanview with all plugins installed is better than ACDSee?
Better or not ... thats often the question.
I think, the programm that you are using more often is the better one.
Many people use photoshop ... but ask a corel user what is the better programm?!
Windows .... Linux ... MacOS ... same question ... same disussion! ;)
When you use irfanview ... and you are contently ... use it in future.
Just my 2 cents

I'm asking cause I never tried ACDSee...
LOL ... ok ... so ... try it ... and make your own opinion ;)
I love it ... tried some other ... but AcdSee is my personal fav.
don't kill me
Never would do that ... I only use Photoshop ... thought Corel is a prog like that ... ok ... I`m wrong :p ;)

BBL, in my opinion just for picture viewing, Irfanview is a fantastic program. I have ACDsee 7.0, yet I still find myself using Irfanview for viewing and renaming files as much or more than ACDsee.
