i am looking to buy a new high end camera. I have seen in the sales papers the Canon and others where they give you two lenses 55mm and 128 or so and 300mm. I think they are mostly 8mp. Just wondering what is a good one with the best lens package and cost. Also, does the 300mm zoom really zoom in close from a distance? And, do these cameras have allot of featutres like multiple shooting when holding down the shutter button?

Thanks for the advice!!!!
:D

yes, most, (if not all) come with burst mode. I have noticed by roaming this board that theres a bandwagon of Canon pipe wipers (LOL, no hard feelings) on this board and it's all good. I use a Nikon D50, (bought the body only) purchased my lenses seperately. I like the camera very much, I use a nikkor 50mm 1.8, and a 28-200mm G ED for the distance beauties

I don't know nuthin' about all these DSLRs and lenses but there so much stuff out there it'll make your head spin.

I suggest you go to a few different camera stores to see it up close and in the flesh. Then let the salesmen demonstrate and educate you.

Let us know what your budget is, then we can discuss specifics.

If youre serious you'll end up spending in the neighborhood of $3000.

Sorry to jump in on this thread guys! But I see l-digital has achieved some great shots, with the 135 f2.0 and I know its one of dps favourite lenses. I am wondering if you use it for indoor events alot? Or are you mainly using outside?
I have the 180mm for outdoor work, but I am looking for a shorter lens to shoot indoors and low light. The nikon 135 f2.0 seems a good bet, although I am wondering if the dof at f2.0 will be abit shallow at that length.

in my opinion, buy a 350D or 20D, and then a good lens, the lens is almost the most importent thing on the camera, if it's a bad lens, it wouldent mather if your camera was a 5000$ cam... and it sounds like your completly new to the SLR cameras, so go to a store and try out a couple of cameras, and see if you even like the SLR design :), I have seen on some other forum some guy buying a 350D, and then he was "why cant I see the "image" on the display ?" and "wheres the movie clip button ?" :D, do some research before buying, try looking at http://dpreview.com
